    Dr. Kara Krupp graduated from Grand Valley State University (GVSU) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a Pre-Professional emphasis and a minor in Statistics in 2019. She obtained her Doctorate of Optometry from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University (FSU) in 2023, graduating with honors.

    Dr. Krupp received optometric experience and training in a variety of clinical settings. In addition to the experience she gained working at the University Eye Center at FSU, she provided primary care and care related to contact lenses, pediatrics, a wide variety of ocular diseases, low vision and binocular vision dysfunctions at a couple different private practices in the greater Lansing areas in addition to at a larger multipractice in Saginaw (Andersen Eye Associates) as an extern, where she worked along ophthalmologists that specialized in the areas of glaucoma, anterior segment, oculoplastics and retinal disease. Furthermore, she gained experience managing neuro-ophthalmic conditions working alongside the fellows and neuro-ophthalmologists at Michigan State University (MSU) Neuro-Ophthalmology during another externship. She also completed an optometric externship at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center, receiving training in management of diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and pre and post-operative patient care. 

    While a student, she participated in a few different mission trips. In 2016, she studied abroad in Ghana where she assisted doctors and nurses as a medical volunteer at multiple medical facilities in the town of Winneba. In 2018, she participated in an International Service Learning (ISL) optometric mission trip to Baha, Mexico. Most recently in 2022, she helped provide eyecare to the people of Dominica with the Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH) organization. She was also the community service chair for the Michigan College of Optometry SVOSH chapter for 2 years.

    Dr. Krupp graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 2015. She now lives in Lowell with her husband and 3 cats. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, travelling, kayaking and spending time with her friends and family. She also loves animals and enjoys volunteering at animal shelters when able to help give comfort, love and attention to animals before they find their forever home.

    Fun Fact: Dr. Krupp has managed to visit all 50 states with her family!
