Dr. Felicia Slate, O.D.

Dr. Felicia Slate completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Ferris State University in 2013 and continued her education at the Michigan College of Optometry. Dr. Slate was active in her school and received the Daniel Peters Memorial Award for Outstanding Senior Optometry Student. She served as a member on a national committee representing her school and continues to be involved in organized optometry.

Dr. Slate received extensive training in a variety of clinical experiences. She completed an internship at Michigan State University in the Neuro Ophthalmology Department, Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired and Grand Rapids Ophthalmology. She also worked with corneal specialists at Verdier Eye Center treating anterior segment pathology and fitting patients with specialty contact lenses. At the Mercy Health Diabetic Clinic in Grand Rapids and at the Wyoming Veterans Affairs Health Care Center, Dr. Slate developed a passion for managing ocular disease and educating her patients about overall health and the effects that it has on their eyes.

Over the past few years Dr. Slate has been seeing patients at a medically based ophthalmology practice in West Michigan. In a rural community she has had the opportunity to treat a wide variety of ocular diseases including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration. From providing emergency eye care to pre and postoperative surgical care, Dr. Slate treats and manages many eye care needs.

Growing up in a small town, Dr. Slate has a passion for developing personal relationships. At Advanced Eyecare Professionals, Dr. Slate looks forward to creating long-lasting relationships with her patients and providing them with exceptional eye care.

Outside of the office you will find Dr. Slate running around or walking with her dog, Poppy. She is an avid runner and has completed a number of marathons including The Boston Marathon. Dr. Slate has recently started competing in triathlons alongside her husband, Jordan, and they hope to someday complete all 6 of the Abbott World Marathon Majors.
